Hi! I'm Avery
I'm a software engineer based out of Calgary, Alberta. I have over 11 years years of hobbiest programming experience, and just over 1 year of professional experience. Over my programming career, I have learned a variety of languages, created many personal projects, and have strived to learn as much as possible.
My current areas of interest are game development (especially engine development), low level programming (including operating systems and firmware), and theoretical computer science. However, I am always open to learning new technologies and fields when I get the chance.
Experience
Member of the Serious Games research group, helping build a game and engine to help transition high school students with ADHD and learning disabilities to postsecondary.
Projects: gears
President of the Scarlett Robotics FTC team. Responsible for organizing, teaching, and contributing to a functional robot.
Contributor to the AC Robotics team during their RI3D (Robot in 3 days) challenge for the 2019/2020 FRC (First Robotics Competition) season.
Member of the Scarlett Robotics code team. Responsible for adding both autonomous and driver controlled logic to the robot controller.
Education
Achieved a GPA of 3.87 in first year, and a GPA of 3.73 in second year.
Graduated high school, attaining an overall average of 97.48%, receiving Honours with Distinction in all three years.
